BackTBFREE Honours DOT Supporters
The Free State TBFREE team held a DOT Supporters Recognition Ceremony on 18 September 2009 at the Frankfort Community Hall. The event was organized to acknowledge the diligence of the volunteers who have dedicated a part of their lives towards supporting and encouraging TB patients to complete their treatment.
This event is held annually in each province to encourage the volunteers who are giving selflessly of their time to help in the fight against TB; without a stipend and/ or any form of compensation. The group was treated to lunch, entertainment and each volunteer was issued with a certificate of acknowledgement and a gift.
The fifty four (54) volunteers from Frankfort, Tweeling, Villiers and Vrede were trained as Directly Observed Treatment (DOT) Supporters by TBFREE through its HWSETA accredited TB training module and have been involved with community based DOT for the past year and above.
The day was graced with the presence of the Free State Department of Health’s TB Programme Manager Ms. Yoliswa Tsibolane who thanked both TBFREE and the volunteers for their commitment and support. Other guests included the provincial ACSM (Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization) Manager, Ms. Mapelele Moswahle and TBFREE’s Provincial Centre Manager Ms. Joyce Ramakau.
