Abstract Presentation in Mexico

TBFREE has been afforded the opportunity to present a poster abstract at the upcoming 40th Union World Conference on Lung Health to be held in Cancún, Mexico from 3-7 December 2009.

The presentation is about the role Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) plays in the reduction of the burden of TB among impoverished communities.

The paper highlights the importance of choosing the appropriate medium, such as the recently concluded national TB road show; to convey messages on the importance of knowing the TB signs and symptoms, getting tested for TB, adherence to treatment and the curability of TB even in the presence of HIV.
